Is Cancer a more deadly disease than Coronavirus (Covid-19)?

This is not the first time when Humans are fighting with a pandemic crisis. Throughout the history of mankind, disease outbreaks destructed millions of lives. In such a situation, today Coronavirus has shaken the whole world and has killed more than 70 thousand innocent people. But is Coronavirus really such a terrible disease? Is it dangerous than a deadly disease like Cancer?

Cancer is not a new disease for us like Coronavirus. Undoubtedly cancer is a deadly disease but both of them are fatal if not treated at the right time. If we do a comparative study, we will find that Cancer is more dangerous than Coronavirus. But how? Let's check some facts 

1. Coronavirus is an infection but Cancer is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Coronavirus is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. It attacks the respiratory system of the body and maybe recover without any treatment. That's true. People who have a strong immune system don't need ventilators. 

But in the case of Cancer, immunity alone is not enough. Cancer is a large group of diseases. It can be started in almost any organ of the body and damage it severely. Cancer cells grow rapidly, invade tissues and develop a tumor. Patients need special medical treatment and everybody can't afford it.  

2. Types of Coronavirus and Cancer

There are 200 known types of Cancer but there are merely 3 types of havoc Coronavirus found in humans. They are 

• SARS-CoV
• MERS-CoV
• COVID-19

In all of them, SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV contained successfully in 2003 and 2012 respectively but the COVID-19 outbreak has been uncontrolled.

What I mean to say here is in the case of Coronavirus we know our enemy, the virus. But we don't know who is our enemy in the case of cancer unlikely because we don't know the reasons for the development of cancer cells in a body. 

3. Cancer has a high mortality rate

As per reports of the World Health Organization, approximately 10 million of people lost their lives in 2018 due to various forms of cancer. This number is not less. Further, WHO says about 1 in 6 deaths in the world is because of Cancer. The cancer data are scary. It is estimated that 31 million people would die due to cancer until 2030. 

In contrast, the rate of patients recovering from Coronavirus is quite satisfactory. More than 2.8 million people have been successfully recovered from this pandemic. The fatality rate of this disease is quite low. Even malaria has a high number of fatality rates than this.
